PHYSICAL EDUCATION FITNESS GUIDELINES: 30% DAILY FITNESS, (WARM-UPS,ETC),, 35% PARTICIPATION/ATTENDANCE, 15% SKILL DEVELOPMENT, (PREPAREDNESS,ETC.), 15% SAFETY AWARENESS, (COOPERATION), AND 5% BENCHMARK, (COOPERATIVE SKILLS) = 100%.
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION: PARTICIPATION, PREPAREDNESS, COOPERATION,EIGHT-MINUTE WALK/JOG/ EXERCISES/STRETCHES, AND BENCHMARK/ASSESSMENT, (PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTING = SIT-UPS; WHICH TESTS ABDOMINAL STRENGTH, PUSH-UPS; WHICH TESTS UPPER BODY STRENGTH, SHUTTLE RUN; WHICH TESTS ON SPEED AND AGILITY, SIT AND REACH; WHICH TESTS ON FLEXIBILITY, AND THE ONE-MILE RUN1/2 MILE RUN; WHICH TESTS ENDURANCE) . EACH STUDENT WILL BE TESTED ON THESE COMPONENTS ONCE A MARKING PERIOD, THREE TIMES TOTAL.
MODEL CURRICULUM; GRADES 6TH THROUGH 8TH, UNIT OVERVIEW: THE GRADES 6-8 PHYSICAL EDUCATIONUNITS ARE A COHESIVE SET OF FIVE UNITS THAT WILL SCAFFOLD INSTRUCTION FROM ONE GRADE LEVEL TO THE NEXT. THE UNITS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AS BUILDING BLOCKS OF SKILLS AND CONCEPTS THAT WILL MOVE INSTRUCTION FROM ONE UNIT TO THE NEXT. ALL UNITS ARE MADE UP OF A BLENDED SET OF STANDARDS AND CUMULATIVE PROGRESS INDICATORS THAT FULLY ENCAPSULATE THE MAJOR IDEAS AND THEMES BEHIND THE UNIT. THE INCORPORATION OF DIFFERENT STANDARDS THROUGH MAJOR, SUPPORTING AND ADDITIONAL CONCEPTS PROVIDE A GREATER OPPORTUNITY FOR COMPREHENSIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTION IN EACH UNIT. THE UNITS PROGRESS FROM WELLNESS EDUCATION (FITNESS CONCEPTS AND ACTIVITIES) TO DEVELOPING AND APPLYING MOVEMENT EDUCATION SKILLS IN ISOLATED AND APPLIED SITUATIONS IN VARIOUS ACTIVITIES SUCH AS INDIVIDUAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT, TEAM ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES AND COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES.
UNIT 1: WELLNESS. UNIT 2: MOVEMENT EDUCATION/RHYTHM. UNIT 3: COOPERATIVE GAMES. UNIT 4: INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES. UNIT 5: TEAM ACTIVITIES.
GENERAL INFORMATION REGULATIONS:
A. PROPER DRESS STUDENTS CAN WEAR ANY COLOR; T-SHIRT, SHORTS, SWEATSHIRTS, AND/OR SWEATPANTS. -OR-
1. 6TH GRADE P.E. UNIFORM - ANY COLOR AND MUST BE APPROPRIATE TSHIRT/SHORTS,SWEATHIRT/SWEATPANTS. IF A STUDENT IS UNPREPARED MORE THAN TWO TIMES, THE STUDENT WILL BE GIVEN A 14-MINUTE LUNCH DETENTION, EVERY DAY, HE OR SHE COMES IN UNPREPARED. THIS WILL ALSO RESULT IN A PHONE CALL HOME.
2. 7TH GRADE P.E. UNIFORM - ANY COLOR AND MUST BE APPROPRIATE, TSHIRT/SHORTS, SWEATSHIRT/SWEATPANTS.
3. 8TH GRADE P.E. UNIFORM - ANY COLOR AND MUST BE APPROPRIATE, TSHIRT/SHORTS, SWEATSHIRT/SWEATPANTS. (OR A COMBINATION OF EACH ONE).
4. Sneakers and socks is a must!
5. NO JEWELERY!
6. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES OF ANY KIND! PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS MAY WEAR EITHER; BURGANDY/RED/PINK, BLACK, WHITE, OR GREY DURING THEIR PE CLASS UNTIL OUR ORDERED UNIFORMS ARRIVE. IF STUDENT'S DO NOT HAVE THOSE COLORS, THEY MAY WEAR WHATEVER COLORS THEY HAVE AS LONG AS IT'S THE PROPER ATTIRE FOR A PE CLASS!
7. NO TANK TOPS, PAJAMA BOTTOMS, SANDALS, SLIPPERS, UGS, OR BOOTS.
8. Students will provide their own combination lock. (Recommended).
9. The teacher may assign a written assignment to the students, for extra credit.
10. Bring all items needed to be properly dressed for class. Practice what is learned.
11. Students are responsible for their own valuables and personal belongings.
12. Students will not loiter/hangout in the locker rooms during class time from other assigned areas.
13. Students will not enter the PE offices without permission, during any time.
14. Students are responsible to arrive on time to class every day.
15. NO EATING OR DRINKING OF ANY KIND IN THE GYMNASIUM.
16. NO ROUGH PLAY OR HORSE PLAYING IN OR OUT OF THE GYMNASIUM.

MR. GREEN'S DISCIPLINE POLICY:
1. 1ST OFFENSE: A WARNING. (TEACHER WILL SPEAK TO THE STUDENT).
2. 2ND OFFENSE: A LUNCH DETENTION, (14-MINUTES).
3. 3RD OFFENSE: A PHONE CALL HOME.
4. 4TH OFFENSE: ANOTHER PHONE CALL HOME, PLUS A DETENTION.
5. 5TH OFFENSE: WRITE-UP REFERRAL.
*ALL OTHER OFFENSES WILL BE DEALT WITH ACCORDING TO THE CODE OF CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINARY HANDBOOK.
