IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Kindergarten Reading Logs begin today, 9/24/18.  Reading Logs are a district requirement for students.  Kindergarten is required to read for 15 minutes every day, including weekends.  I will collect the logs at the end of each month.  Below are some guidelines and reminders.

Your child will come home with a reading bag, a monthly reading log, and two to four books in their reading bag.  Please read these books with your child each day and return them the following day.  If the reading bag books do not come back to school the next day, your child will not be allowed to choose new books until the books are returned.

After reading with your child, please remember to sign and date the reading log for 15 minutes.  If you and your child read for more than 15 minutes, please log that time!  15 minutes a night is the minimum requirement, but there is no limit!  If you read for 30 minutes a day, be sure to log it!

Any book counts towards the minutes, not just the books your child brings home.  If you visit the library or have books at home, you can count those books too.

In the beginning of the year, your child may need you to read the books to them.  As they become more familiar with reading books, increase their sight word recognition, and learn to follow text patterns, your child should be able to start reading to you!

I have included a copy of the Building a Super Reader from the Super Kids program.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
