Where I am on campus plus policies |
CAD, Engineering Graphics, and Photo Editing are taught in 236. That's my home base. CNC Production is taught in room 228B. Extra help runs from Tues through Thursday till 2:45p The lab is also open every AM starting at around 6:50a. You have to get to your own first block class on time.
Class Participation is 40% of your grade. 5 points are earned per week. This includes being involved in class discussions, and staying on task when working on your computer station. The rest of your MP grade is project based.
Due dates for assignments aren't always given out immediately. When they are given, they are announced in class and posted here. Once an assignment is overdue it will be assessed a 10% penalty per day for five days. If you come in for extra help and hand your work in, there is no penalty for lateness.
There are two deadlines for overdue work, mid-marking period and end of the marking period. Late work from first half must be in by the mid marking period deadline. Late work from second half must be in by marking period's end deadline.
The deadline for mid marking period's late work for all classes is XXXX. Announcements are posted in Classroom to that effect.
Come to class ontime.
Students are to stay at their desk or workstation until dismissed by the teacher at the end of the period. No food in the classroom. No beverages at the workstations. No music players, or cellphones should be out or in use in my classes. All cell phones, tablets, iPods, etc. must be put away BEFORE the late bell rings. If you need it for a picture reference, calcuator, etc., please ask. Bring a writing instrument for this class everyday. Get a pocket folder for use in my classes. Students are expected to take notes and markup worksheets.
Google Classroom is used for regular announcements, due dates, deadlines for late work, and submission of digital work in all classes taught.
CAD 1
Start of MP 1 We are working with AutoCAD LT 2021 this year. It is free for students and teachers. An account must be set up with Autodesk that proves you are enrolled in a high school before you can download the installer. We are currently working on a set of single view drawings and learning about best drafting practices for drawing and dimensioning.

Start of MP 1 We are working with Adobe Photoshop CS6 in room 236's lab, or (for Windows users) an installation of Photoshop CS2 on your own personal equipment. Currently we are working on basic edits, working with Layers, and working with Type.
Neither current Dreamweaver, or current Photoshop are free for students. Two alternatives for them are Kompozer, and GIMP. They are available for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
Engineering Computer Graphics
Start of MP 1 We are working in AutoCAD LT and Blender 3D this MP. Both are free for students. You can use the links above for access to an AutoCAD installer for home use. You'll need to setup an account with Autodesk and verify your student status per their requirements. Blender 3D is free forever and can be downloaded from www.blender.org.
CNC Production We are learning about the process of CNC manufacturing as well as a little history. Parts and functions of our Laguna CNC machine will be identified and demoed. The software used to create project work for production is called Aspire. It's installed on all the machines in room 228B.
