Welcome to Mrs. Challandes 2nd Grade!
Welcome to 2nd grade! I am so excited to have you in class this year. We will be learning many new and exciting things. You are going to learn about triple-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, Colonial America, how to build a bridge, hands-on activities and much, much more. I hope you are ready for a very fun and educational year. I know I am!
Let me first introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Challandes and this will be my 23rd year teaching at Hamilton School. I absolutely love teaching and think Hamilton School is the best! In my free time I love to play with my family, read and run. This summer I read 12 books by the pool, the beach and at home. I also ran in many 5k’s this summer and even got a 3rd place medal for my age group. Once a year I run a half marathon. This year I’m hoping to get into the New York City half marathon in March…fingers crossed!
My husband’s name is Jim and he has been a high school English teacher in Bridgewater for 22 years. We love spending time with our children. I am a mom of three adorable and fun loving children named Bryella, Nicholas and Lucas. Bryella will be entering 8th grade this September and loves to act, read and sing. Nicholas is 9 years old and is beginning fourth grade in a few days. He loves to run in cross country, do karate and play on his Switch. Lucas is 7 years old and is starting 2nd grade, just like you! He loves to go horseback riding, do karate and read.
Summer is coming to a close, and I’m looking forward to making many memories with you this year. Please be sure to pack a lunch and healthy snack for the first day of school on Wednesday, September 4th.
I hope you enjoy the last few days of summer and are excited about starting a brand new school year. Please remember to wear your big, bright, smile on the first day of school
Love,
Mrs. Challandes
