Math homework is due back the next day. Spelling packets are due each Friday.
This year in the second grade:
In math, we will explore the following topics:
Adding and Subtracting

Measuring Length
Shapes and Their Attributes
Problem Solving with Addition and Subtraction
Graphs and Data
Reading: 
Each student will participate in reading throughout the day during whole class and small group reading activities. Different areas of focus include plot, setting, characters, nonfiction featrues, theme and main idea.
Writing: 
This year we will explore different genres in Writer's Workshop such as fiction, nonfiction, letter writing, poems, and opinion writing.
Social Studies: 
In social studies, we will study:
• Do Rule Make Better Communities?
• Should I Care About the Past if I Live in NJ Now?
• Does Where I Live Impact Myself and Others?
• Why Do We Have Special Day Throughout the Year?
Science: 
In science, we will study and explore:
• Earth and Space Science
• Physical Science
• Life Science
