The attached file at the bottom of this page should answer most, if not all of your questions about joining 5th grade Orchestra.
Orchestra Choices:
Violin
Highest sounds. Your child should enjoy hearing high sounds to play this instrument.
Viola (vee-OH-lah)
Middle sounds. Looks and feels exactly like a violin, but will be more pleasing to those who prefer middle-range sounds.
Cello
Middle-Low sounds. Must sit down to play this instrument. Sound is said to resemble human voice. Check out: http://thepianoguys.com videos. (Piano and cello together!) *Student favorites: Cello Wars (Star Wars parody), Me & My Cello So Happy Together.
Bass
Lowest sounds. Students will sit on a stool while playing this instrument. This instrument is like the heartbeat/drumset of the orchestra - it will help keep everyone together. It is important that students who choose this instrument have a good sense of steady beat.
