Welcome Back to School!
Welcome Back to another school year! My name is Mrs. Sprinitis and I am an intervention specialist here at Crim School. Reading and Writing is my passion and I am thrilled that I get to share that passion with your child. During my time with students, we work on decoding, phonics, comprehension strategies and writing. In addition, I focus on fluency for the last 5-7 minutes of the lesson daily. Did you know there is a direct correlation to reading fluency and reading success? Studies show that the more fluent of a reader you are, the better you will be able to comprehend the text and become a more successful reader!!
**Feel free to e -mail me or call with any questions and/or concerns you may have.
.
Grade 3
My grade 3 students will be focusing on enhancing their fluency and comprehension skills. We will be completing fluency drills daily and we will be working on writing well- written summaries without retelling ALL of the un-important details.
Please make sure your child re-reads the book/chapters completed in class and practice fluency passages/sentences daily. Also, please remember to sign the log sheet to show that your child has practiced. Your help and dedication is appreciated!!!!
Grade 4
My grade 4 students will be working on making "deeper meaning" while reading text. Using an array of literature ranging from novels to non-fiction text, we will be analyzing and writing about the text using various strategies.
Please remind your child to re-read the chapter/book we read in class. These repeated readings will help with the understanding of the complex texts that we read. It will also help with building their fluency as well. Students will be given fluency passages to practice daily. This could be counted toward their 20 minutes of required reading that their homeroom teacher requires. Your help and dedication is appreciated!!!!
"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss
A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.”
