LA/Spelling: What Makes the Earth Shake Assessments 12/18
Spelling/LA Update - 2nd Trimester
As we begin the second trimester, I want to let you know about a small change to our daily spelling homework routine. My goal is to help students stay organized and better prepared for both their weekly Spelling Quiz and Vocab/Story Test each Friday.
Here is the updated weekly plan:
- Monday (In School): Students will complete 2x Each for their spelling words during class time.
- Monday Night Homework: Put all spelling words in ABC order 2x each.
- Tuesday Night Homework: Write sentences for words 1–10.
- Wednesday Night Homework: Write sentences for words 11–20.
- Thursday Night Homework: Prepare for Spelling Quiz and Story/Vocab Test
This new schedule will help students review their words in smaller, more manageable steps throughout the week while also giving them ample practice before Friday’s assessments. Additionally, I will now be referring to the Spelling Test as a Spelling Quiz as it is only worth a value of 60 points. It will look exactly the same. Thank you for your support at home! FRIENDLY REMINDERS:
- Please send in a note in your child's red folder with any change of dismissal. Anyone staying for clubs, activities, Girl Scouts etc...will need a note in order to change dismissal method.
- Please check my homework tab each day for daily homework assignments. Students should ALSO check their homework pad at home every night. Some students have been coming in with the wrong homework or not having followed the directions - please check over and sign homework each night.
Early Dismissal Days:
- On early dismissal days the cafeteria is closed for purchases. Students in 2A should bring in both a small nut free snack and a lunch.
