XC GENERAL INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in Cross Country! In order to participate in our (grades 6 through 8 co-ed) sports program, you must submit the required paperwork to the LVMS School Nurse, Ms. Alicia Hade ([email protected]) before the start of the season.

Please note: The deadline to submit sports physicals is August 18th. Paperwork will not be accepted after this date. Information and paperwork can be found on the LVMS Website, as well as on the WTSchools Mobile App.  All completed forms can be dropped off at the LVMS Main Office.  (Paperwork can be dropped off at the LVMS Main Office between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM or in the secure locking mailbox found outside of the LVMS Main Entrance.)

The fall Cross Country season starts Wednesday, September 6th. For all participating athletes, please meet in the North Gymnasium at 3:30 PM. The first day (9/6/23) is orientation only. Pick up time for this day is 4 PM.

The 2023 season schedule will be noted at the bottom of this page; however, inclement weather and facility limitations may result in last-minute changes. Athletes will be notified of any changes that take place. All athletes are encouraged to check their LVMS XC Google Classroom on a regular basis.

Athletes must have a ride home after each practice and meet.  Practice pick-up time is 4:45 PM. All LVMS Home Meets will start at 4:00 PM and last about an hour and fifteen minutes. Buses take athletes to/from all "away" meets. Families are welcome to come to all meets to cheer on our athletes!

NoteThe county race times are different; once these specific times are announced, athletes will be notified of the schedule.

Athletes will need a good pair of running shoes, comfortable shorts, a T-shirt, and water to participate in a successful season. I recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to refill as needed along with a light, healthy snack.

For athletes interested or already signed up for the fall 2023 season, I highly recommend that athletes start to build on cardiovascular endurance conditioning now. Your goal is to run 1.5 to 2 miles without having to stop. To get there, you must start conditioning by going out for a run/walk 3 to 4 times per week. You can also increase aerobic capacity by going for bicycle rides and/or swimming between the days that you run.
