It's time to set your AR goal for the 3rd Quarter!!
Please speak with your child and discuss what you want your 3rd quarter AR goal to be.
Please make sure you are reading your books every night and taking at least 2 or more tests per week!!
AR is a school (and district) wide reading program utilized to encourage students to read and build their love of reading. In Kindergarten, most of the time, parents will be reading to their children. As students learn to read they will share in the reading experience.
The child will then come to school and take a computer generated test based on their book. Every test they take gives them the opportunity to earn points towards their goal for the quarter. Students who meet their goal each quarter have the opportunity to participate in a celebration of their efforts at the end of the quarter. Students who do not meet their goal will share in reading with a teacher. The deadline to meet the goal will be two days before the end of each quarter.
Each quarter every child will start fresh with a new goal to attain for that quarter. At the end of the year, students earning 50 or more points will earn a trophy for their hard-work all year.
Parents can sign up using home connect (https://hosted104.renlearn.com/736819/HomeConnect) and the login information sent home with their child to receive updates whenever their child has tested, and can see progress towards goals.
Our school is part of a character education program called The Leader in Me. A link is included on the main menu if you'd like to learn more about the program. The EIGHT habits of The Leader in Me include:

Please make sure all homework gets back to school on Friday.
Please make sure you only do the pages for each day. I put each days homework assignments on the newsletter. Please try not to work ahead bc there may be some skills we haven't covered during the week yet. All homework is due on Friday. I send home new homework on Monday. Remember to take out all work from the week and go over it with your child.
Planners
This is what they will be taking home and returning to school daily. It will contain their daily behavior and any notes or questions I have for you. This is the best place for you to write me a note! If your child will not be going home their regular way, please write it in the planner, so I can send it up to the office. I will not rely on children telling me that they are to go home a different way. I need you to initial in their planner every day acknowledging that you know about their behavior daily. If your child is going to be absent please send a separate note for the office.
Transportation
The way that your child was sent home today will be the same way that they will be sent home tomorrow…unless I have a note in their planner! Please do not expect me or your child to remember changes. I want your child to be safe just as much as you do! It is so important that you write down how your child will be going home every day.
