Ms. Deer's Class

Welcome to the new school year. I am excited about the new school year and look forward to working with you and your child.  The 6th grade year is mathematically important for students because it is a year of consolidation and foundation building.   Your child will be challenged in his/her willingness to give 100% in developing and applying mathematical skills.   It is my intent to help your child use mathematical principles to reflect, reason and apply knowledge so that they can think critically to solve everyday problems.

Policy and Procedures

My goal as an educator is the same as that of my parents and students: Success!

  1. Open communication is important to successful education.  The best way to contact me is via e-mail: lisa.deer@lpsb.org. Please be sure to put your child's first and last name in the subject line.  Phone messages may be left through the school office at 225.664.4221 and I will get back to you in a timely manner.
  2. Everyday students are to copy their homework in their planner, no exceptions.
  3. Students are encouraged to attend class regularly. In the event of a student absence it is the responsibility of the student to ask our class assistant for makeup work! Makeup work must be turned in compliant to SJH’s absence/makeup policy found in the planner.
  4. Students are to give no less than their best effort every day-100%!!!
  5. Discipline is important in my classroom.  Students will be disciplined in a respectful, responsible manner. Students will receive a warning followed by loss of privileges, or disciplinary action including action taken by the office.
  6. Homework is any class assignment that was not completed during the class period.  It is highly recommended for your student to review class material 5-10 minutes daily.
