Hello students. Hope you are all well, staying busy, and staying out of trouble. Starting Sept. 2020 you will be required to log into Google classroom where you will complete and submit weekly work. I will email everyone an invite to my classroom which will include your access code.
Please be very patient when using this technology. Using some of these features may be new to some of us so we are all learning how to work with it.
Remember that it is a computer using an Internet connection and it does not always work correctly. We will encounter problems along the way so please be patient. When any technical issues arise we will make adjustments to continue on the best we can.
We will be using Google classroom and Google Meet for all classes. Google classrooms are currently under construction and will be up to date soon.
WHEN YOU WANT TO ACCESS AND DO YOUR ASSIGNMENTS MAKE SURE YOU OPEN IT USING THE CLASSWORK TAB AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. DO NOT GO TO YOUR ASSIGNMENTS THROUGH THE STREAM. CLICK ON THE CLASSWORK TAB THEN OPEN THE ASSIGNMENT.
Classroom Expectations for VIRTUAL LEARNING:
-
Students will be logged into class on-time daily, especially LIVE class instruction which is once per 6 day rotation.
-
The other 5 days of the rotation, there will be an assignment posted for you in my Google Classroom, every day at 11:15 a.m. You are required to do that every day of the week. There will be deadlines for ALL assignments.
-
Because this class is only held “live” once per week, it is necessary to log into my Google Classroom daily and check your school gmail daily. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stay on top of the workload.
-
It is necessary to READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY, and WATCH ALL VIDEOS. You can re-watch videos at any time if you need assistance. I will have office hours, but will not be available from 11:15 to 12:00 every day because I will be teaching other classes at that time. The rest of my day I will be making assignments and video instructions for all my other classes in grades 1 through 5.
-
If you need an appointment to have a live Google Meet session with me aside from regularly scheduled class time, please email me so we can set up a convenient time for BOTH of us.
-
There will be attendance taken daily, even on days when class is not live. I will check daily attendance reports to see who is absent to determine if you can make up missed work. If you are NOT on the absentee list, you will not be allowed to make up missed work. You will receive a zero on the missed assignment. If you ARE on the absentee list, you will have 5 school days to make up missed work from a school-reported absence.
-
Students are to keep their passwords private and do not share with anyone else.
-
Students must do their own work and turn work in to teacher or through Google Classroom, as required.
Suggested Daily Activity:
The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommends that children and adolescents ages 6 through 17 years should achieve a minimum of 1 hour of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, and activities that strengthen bones and build muscles at least 3 days a week.
These three types of physical activities should include:
Aerobic: Most of the 60 minutes or more per day should be either moderate- or vigorous- intensity aerobic physical activity such as walking, running, or anything that makes their heart beat faster.
Muscle-strengthening: As part of their 60 minutes or more of daily physical activity, children and adolescents should include muscle-strengthening physical activity, such as climbing or doing push-ups, on at least 3 days a week.
Bone-strengthening: As part of their 60 minutes or more of daily physical activity, children and adolescents should include bone-strengthening physical activity, such as jumping or running, on at least 3 days a week.

YouTube also has many free workout videos for a range of ages and abilities. Students should try to do 30-60 minutes of continuous physical activity every day. This could include our stretching/warm up routine that we do during every class, playing outside, taking a walk, riding a bike, push ups, crunches/sit ups, jumping jacks, wind-mills, any activity that gets your heart rate up.
If you are stuck in the house, get creative with the previous activities. If you have stairs in your house, safely incorporate going up and down them as part your exercise routine.
