Every student begins the Marking Period with the grade of 100. The grade will be divided into 3 areas:
Attire, Attendance and Participation - 80 points
Cognitive and Fitness testing - 10 points
Affecticve (Full Value Contract) - 10 points
Definition of Physical Education attire: t-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, and athletic sneakers that tie, (the following are not accepted: tank tops, hard sole boots, UGGS, flip flops, loafers, Sperrys, slip-on sneakers with no backs)
Point Deductions - 6 points will be deducted for:
--> Not changing for class and not participating
-->No athletic unifoirms
-->Cutting Class
- Inappropriate footwear is an automatic -6
- leaving class without permission = Cut (can not be made up)
- 2 Cuts = loss of credit and removal from class
4 points will be deducted:
- Failure to participate
- Unsportsmanlike behavior
- Insubordination - failure to properly follow directions
- Changing clothes in the gymnasium
- Creating an unsafe environment for other students (i.e. misuse of equipment)
2 points will be deducted:
- Lack of effort
- Using cell phone or any electronic devices in class
- Poor sportsmanship
- Cursing 2nd offense
- Leaving classroom without permission
1 point will be deducted:
- Food or drink in locker room/gymnasium
- Poor sportsmanship
- Cursing 1st offense
- Not on time for attendance
A student can earn 1-3 extra credit points for:
- Make up class (Tuesdays after school 2:30-3:05pm) - 3 points
- Showing extra effort assisting the teacher
- Being a class leader
*Failure may result if a grade of "U" is earned in the last marking period regardless of other grades earned. It may also result if 2 "U's" in 3 marking periods occurs.
MEDICAL EXCUSES
If you cannnot participate due to a medical reson, you must bring a note to the nurse stating the reason and date for not participating. Parental notes may only excuse a student a maxium of 3 days. A 1 day parent note should be brought to the teacher. You may not exceed 3 parent notes in a marking period. If you are excused for an extended period of time, you must have a doctors note stating the reason and length!.
