Spelling Words

Please have students study the following words for our spelling test Thursday.

Language Arts Skill: Adverbs - The student would be able to identify adverbs.

Writing Skill: Informational  -

The student would write an informational writing piece.  An informational writing is when the writer gathers information about a topic and summarizes it.

Math Skill: Multiplication - The student would be able to add & subtraction two and digit numbers with and without regrouping.

Science Theme: Plant Lifecycle - The student will investigate the life cycles of different living organisms.

Social Studies Theme: Georgia’s Past - The student would be able to identify great Georgians of the past.

Reminders:

  • Ice cream is $1.00 on Wednesday and Friday.
  • If your child is off-task or has received two or more color card changes, he/she will not be able to purchase ice cream.
  • Student is to come to school prepared with school supplies daily (pencils, crayons, paper).

Reading/Spelling: This week’s spelling words are from the Reading story “Abuela”.  Pre-test for Spelling will be done on Thursday & if needed a follow-up test will be on Friday.   Bonus word is on p. 280.

 

Language: Adverb describes the verb.  Example: happily, quickly

The turtle was walking slowly across the street.

 

Math: Multiplication:

Array is an arrangement of a set of numbers or objects in rows and columns.

Science: Plant Life Cycle:

Flower is a plant part where fruit and seeds are formed.

Cone is the part where seeds form in a plant without flowers.

Population is a group of the same kind of living thing in one place.

Environment is all the living and nonliving things around a living thing.

Inherit is to have traits passed on from the parents.

Life cycle is a series of changes that a living thing goes through as it grows.

Gravity is a force that pulls all objects toward each other.

Fruit is the part of a flower that is around a seed.

Seed is the part from which a new plant grows.
