Suggestions from a brighthubeducation.com

A Different Place

The first website is A Different Place (http://www.adifferentplace.org/). This website has excellent activities for students in all subjects from math to technology and is available for kindergarten through twelfth grade. This website also has many resources for teachers and parents as well. The site provides links to many other other websites categorized by subject. It's a terrific site to visit because of the wide variety of subjects and topics covered. Many parents recommend this website as the first place to look when educating students who are gifted and talented because there is so much for the students to do.

Mensa

If you are looking for something fun for students to do, check out the games at the American Mensa website (http://www.us.mensa.org/play/). It offers fun and challenging games that are updated either daily or on a weekly basis. Kids can also play previous games as well. Students need to do activities just for fun and not always for an academic purpose. If you need to find your child something to do, take a visit to this website; there is definitely enough here to keep them not only busy, but challenged as well.

Twice Gifted

Students that are gifted and talented may also have special needs as well. Twice Gifted (http://www.twicegifted.net/) is a website devoted to students that are not only gifted, but may have a learning disability or various other disabilities. The site provides a wealth of information for parents and teachers such as strategies, characteristics of those students, and also links to other resources. There is also a page called "Famous Faces" that features noteworthy people who have disabiltiies. Leaning that Thomas Edison's teachers told him that he was too stupid to learn anything, for example, could be motivational or inspiring to a student.

Extreme Intellect

Extreme Intellect (http://www.extremeintellect.com/) provides printable worksheets, games, links, and many other resources for students for many subjects and grade levels. This website has a lot of information. It's great to use for extension activities in order to keep gifted and talented students busy and challenged as well. People love it because it covers many different subjects and, along with the core subjects, there are also activities in the areas of music, art, and six different foreign languages.

ProProfs Brain Games

ProProfs Brain Games (http://www.proprofs.com/games/all/) has a number of enriching games that provide great recreation options for gifted and talented students. The range of games on this site include puzzles, logic games, suduko, word games, and brain teasers. The content here offers wonderful ways to help your student pass time, which makes it one of the best websites for gifted and talented education.

(more coming soon)

Math BINGO App

I used to play this app when I was younger! There are 5 different types: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and mixed, and there are 3 levels of difficulty. You get to choose a avatar, and by playing, you unlock BINGO Bugs- the goal is to get them all. This kept me hooked on the game even after I got all the BINGO Bugs!

Simple Physics App

SimplePhysics lets you design complex structures for everything from tree houses to ferris wheels and then simulates your design with a sophisticated physics engine.” This is a very interesting app which you use to make structures, and then you can test it with a close to reality physics simulator. This is perfect for children who like to be creative and imaginative, but still stimulates their brain.

Trainyard App

In Trainyard, the goal is to get every train to its corresponding station. “As the game progresses, you’ll have to use color theory to combine trains of different colors, use timing to merge and split trains, and use every inch of your brain in your quest to beat the game.” This app requires a lot of concentration and smarts- perfect for a gifted child to play in the car, waiting for their sister’s gymnastics practice to end, and more.

Stack the Countries App

As you learn country capitals, landmarks, geographic locations and more, you carefully build a stack of countries that reaches the checkered line to win each level. You earn a random country for every successfully completed level. All of your countries appear on your own personalized maps of the continents. Stack the Countries was really  easy to learn and was challenging to beat sometimes! It is great for gifted children because it keeps them occupied, because they are playing to get something (get all of the continents.)

Unblock Me App

Unblock Me is a puzzle app. The goal is to move the red block off the board by sliding the other blocks out of the way in the least amount of moves. There are 3 game difficulties ranging from Beginner to Expert, and there are 2 game modes- regular mode and challenge mode. In challenge mode, each puzzle has 3 stars to earn. This is a great game to play when you are trying to pass the time or just want to have a little challenge.
