Not mandatory for second graders to participate in and is NOT COUNTED AS A GRADE.
In second grade, students read books and take AR tests in the class rather than doing a BEAR log. At the beginning of the year it is a good idea for parents to write down the title of books that the student needs to take a test on. Each nine weeks we would like them to get 2.0 AR points. This is not for a grade, but it is great practice in comprehension. It is also a good idea to encourage your child to participate in AR because it will prepare them for 3rd grade (MANDATORY IN 3rd) and they will become familiar with how the program works. Our goal is for every student to take at least one AR test each month. Each student that gets 2.0 points will get to participate in the fun AR parties given each nine weeks.
