D.O.T. Binder

 

 

Dear Parents and Guardians,

 

The D.O.T. Binder is a tool designed to help keep your child organized through out the school year; it is also a communication tool between home and school.  Inside you will find many sections that your child will use daily.  Please be sure to check these sections each night, especially the parent/teacher communication section for any important information.  Please see that your child returns this folder daily.   Below these sections are listed and explained in detail for you.

 

Important Notes

In the front pocket of your child’s D.O.T. Binder you will see a section for important notes.  This is to be used for any notes you may need to send to school.  These could include notes such as transportation changes, doctor’s appointments, urgent concerns, etc.  Please stress to your child that this is only for you and myself.  I will also use this section for any notes I need to send to you.  Please check this pocket daily.  Also, remind your child to tell me when there is a note in the pocket from you.     

 

Parent Resources

This section will give you resources that provide an overview of some of the more challenging concepts we will be teaching this year.  This may include songs or poems used in class, reference sheets, websites, ect.  Please feel free to let me know if there is anything I could provide to help you help your child with his or her learning.

 

Homework

The back pocket of the binder will be used to transport your child’s homework from home to school.  Please remind your child that it is their responsibility to turn in the homework once it reaches school.

D.O.T. Binder Do and Don't list

 

Do:

● Take very good care of your D.O.T. Binder – we will be using it all year long!

●Take your D.O.T. Binder home every day and bring it back to school the next morning.

●Show your parents your D.O.T. Binder every night and go over any homework you may have.

 

Don’t

●Leave your D.O.T. Binder at home, in the car, on the bus, or at a friend’s house.

●Get your D.O.T. Binder dirty; don’t eat or drink around your D.O.T. Binder.

●Put extra papers that don’t belong in your D.O.T. Binder.

●Take pages out of your D.O.T. Binder – leave everything in your folder for your parents to take out.
