The Kindergarten year is a huge growing year - physically, mentally, and academically. It is not the Kindergarten of old. Kindergarten has grade-level expectations and GLE tests just like every other grade. Kindergarten students must master 60% of all skills. We learn to read, write, count, add, subtract, graph, and so much more. We learn to get along with others and follow school rules. We LEARN, LEARN, LEARN and have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
Kindergarten expectations include recognition and understanding of letters, letter sounds, word families, sight words, sentence structure, numbers, number relations, adding, subtracting, shapes, colors, money, and much, much more. We have much to learn; therefore, it is very important for your child to be at school on time daily.
Newsletters and daily folders will be our form of communication. However, you can always call the office, leave a message and we will return your call. Your child will have a great year in Kindergarten at Mary Goff Elementary!
