Grading Scale

What do your child’s new scores mean for language arts and math?  Instead of focusing on the letter grade, you will find more specific information linked to grade level standards.   The focus will be on what your child is expected to know, understand, and be able to do. Using a 1-4 scale, you will be informed of your child’s progress toward the standard.  Teachers will be using multiple assessments, tasks, observations, and activities to assess your child’s progress.  Students will continue to be scored on projects, portfolios, tests, quizzes, and additional assessments.  The difference will be that the score will be recorded differently with the goal of focusing on student achievement and the demonstration of mastery towards specific skills and standards.
