Dear Parents/Guardians,
Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) is a language arts program for Grades PreK-5 that combines an explicit, multisensory approach to phonics with rich texts carefully sequenced to build content knowledge—so that learning to read and reading to learn develop together. Every day in Grades PreK–2, students complete one full lesson that builds foundational reading skills, as well as one full lesson that builds background knowledge. In Grades 3–5, students start to master the basic skills of reading, further opening up their worlds.
Amplify has made the following accommodations to our materials to support students during this time. Here’s some information about what your students are bringing home to continue learning with Amplify CKLA:
Student Readers:
These readers are uniquely designed to provide intensive practice while reading simple but compelling and authentic stories. All readers are also available as eBooks and audiobooks on the teacher resource site.
In Grades K-2, these readers are decodable chapter books that allow students to practice just-learned sound-spellings within an authentic reading experience that incorporates compelling plots and interesting characters.
Student Activity Books:
These contain activity pages for students to complete as part of the daily lessons. In addition to providing daily opportunities for students to respond to text and apply skills and knowledge, Activity Books feature formative assessments for each day’s objectives.
Accessing Amplify CKLA Teacher Resource Site*:
We have created a login so parents can access the teacher resource site and support students with e-books, audio books, knowledge builders, etc. as needed. Please see login info and steps below:
