We like to take care of unacceptable behavior through positive reinforcement. We give out praise, good notes, thumbs up and super citizen awards to those students showing appropriate behavior. We have a behavior monitoring chart that hangs in our room for all to see. The behavoir chart resembles a pocket chart with five different labels.; there is Role-Model Leader, Great Job, Ready to Learn, Stop and Think (Quiet Area} and Action Meeting.. Everyone starts each day on Ready to Learn; this means everyone is exhibiting positive behavior. Students will move their pins up or down depending on their behavoir. If the student has moved his/her name to Stop and Think, the student will be encouraged to state some new options for the behavior or take a time out in the quiet area,. Some of these behavoirs result in a 5 minute loss of recess However, if the student is unable to put the brakes on, their name will be moved to the Action Meeting. We will discuss a plan that would benefit the student.  Please understand that going to Stop and Think is usually enough to deter unwarranted behavior.
