Ms. Marks’ 3rd grade class

Spelling Test and Grammar skills Test
Friday-
Reading Lesson test
Math
I usually begin a new skill on a Monday and continue for the week testing on Friday, unless I see that students need more time to practice the skill.
Science/Social Studies
I alternate between each subject (3 weeks of Science then 3 weeks of Social Studies).
I read orally to the students the lesson in the textbook. Then, students are required to complete the Study Guide. We will orally check the study guide the next day and students are required to correct answers. This study guide includes the material that will be tested; therefore it is very important to study nightly.
On the day of the test, students turn in the Study Guide for a grade. Students will receive 2 grades ( study guide and test). Students are responsible for keeping the Study Guide in a safe place because they will not receive another copy. If students lose their Study Guide, then they may copy someone else’s to turn in. If studying is happening nightly, losing a Study Guide should not be a problem. Grades are also obtained from classwork and quizzes.
Students copy homework every day in their planners and have homework/studying nightly! Students are to copy all homework that is on the board even if they may have finished it in class. It is the student’s responsibility to copy all homework. It is important to check your child’s homework notebook nightly for test dates, as a means of communication with me, and other special notices. Homework should be copied so that you may check for accuracy and have knowledge of the skills being covered for the week.
Thank you for your cooperation and support,
Ms. Marks
