 Dear Future First Grader,

Hello! My name is Mrs. Weber, your first-grade teacher for this year!  Some of you may have seen me floating around last year or remember me from recess!!  I can’t wait to meet each of you and to get an amazing year started!!   For those of you who will be new to Kossmann School this year, you are going to love it!  There are so many wonderful and helpful people here, who will make you feel just as wonderful as I did on my first day of school at Kossmann SO many years ago!!

I hope you’ve all had a chance to sit back and relax with a good book this summer!  I enjoy reading, and will get to read to you often this year.  On the first day of school, please bring a favorite book that you like to read or like having read to you. We will take time throughout the first week of school to share a few of these stories with each other, and I will bring in my favorite to share with you!

First Grade is SO MUCH FUN and I want to make sure you have all of the school supplies you need in order to make this year as successful as possible!

Here is the general list of 1st grade school supplies shared earlier this year…

1st grade Supply List (NO need to label, this will be a class supply)

  •       1 plastic hard case pencil box that closes

  •       18 glue sticks

  •       3 boxes of Crayola 24 ct. crayons (1 per trimester)

  •       3 dozen Ticonderoga #2 pencils sharpened

  •       wired headphones in a bag labeled for your child only - no earbuds or bluetooth please (they won’t  connect)

  •       8 skinny black Expo markers

  •       1 inch 3 ring binder with clear plastic cover

  •       1 child scissors

Donations of gallon or sandwich sized ziplock bags, tissues, glue sticks, pencils or any extra supplies are always appreciated!

In addition to the general 1st grade school supply list, please make sure your child has...

1.  A backpack with your child's name on it.

2.  One nutritious snack that can be eaten as you work (each day), and a spill proof water   bottle (if you plan on sending one in each day)

3.  The pencil box (listed in the general supply list, please write your child's name on it, and make sure it's big enough to hold all of your belongings, but  small enough to fit in your desk. (We will fill it with pencils, a pair of scissors and some crayons on the first day, however you are more than welcome to add anything extra ; )

 4.   A lunch and/or an account set up with the cafeteria.

 5.   Your child’s dismissal plans, updated in pickup patrol.

 6.   1 package of plastic page protectors (to throw in those binders listed on the general supply list)

 7.   A plain white t-shirt that will fit your child at the end of the school year (this can come in at the end of the year too, but if you're like me and want to check it off your list - go!! ; )

The rest… we’ll have covered for you!! On the first day of school you’ll receive SO many school supplies from me! A chrome book, classwork folder, math books, journals, etc. ALL of these items will stay in the classroom. You will also get a very special red “Take Home” Folder from me! This is the most important school supply of all, as it will travel between home and school each day/night.  ; )

We are also always looking for donations of baby wipes and/or antibacterial gel to clean our hands throughout the day. In addition, zip lock bags of all sizes are also a very much appreciated donation, since we will be using them frequently to store individual supplies, learning manipulatives, books, etc.

Wow!! I think this covers it!! I can’t wait to meet each of you at our Classroom Walkthrough (I am SO excited)!  Information will be communicated to you from the office regarding this fun day! I can’t wait to meet new faces, and see old familiar ones too!! Enjoy your last few days of summer!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Weber
