Gr. 5 English Language Arts (ELA) & Social Studies (SS)
- Completed our unit of study on "Power & Progression"
- Finished our reading & discussion of Jeanne DuPrau's amazing novel The City of Ember
- Presented amazing student research projects on chosen topics of Westward Expansion
- Constructed solidly written responses to open-ended questions using the I.R.A.C.E.S. formula
- Continued to work through thoughtful word study with a focus on word morphology
- Enjoyed a Movie Day as we compared & contrasted the novel City of Ember to the movie

- Continued reading & discussing The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare
- Continued to construct solidly written responses to open-ended questions using the I.R.A. & I.R.A.C.S formulas
- Continued to work through thoughtful word study with a focus on word morphology
- Began to analyze character change & how authors develop that change
- Chose our resarch topics about the life of the Lenni Lenape & began researching with our small group mates
