August 2025
Dear Incoming Fifth Graders,
Welcome, welcome, welcome! I am your fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Ligos. I am so excited to have you be a part of our fifth grade team, and I'm already getting ready for what is sure to be an exciting new school year filled with fun, laughter and of course, learning! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and making our fifth grade community be the very best it can be.
It’s difficult to imagine the beginning of a new school year, but that first day of school will be here before you know it! So, get ready to spend our days learning, laughing and sharing! Now, on to the nitty gritty. First, please take note of your “switch teacher” information…I will teach you, my fifth grade homeroom students, English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies (SS) in the afternoon and your switch teacher, Ms. Luinenburg, will teach you Math and Science in the morning. That is a change in our schedule from years past. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Ms. Luinenburg to OFRS. I am very much looking forward to working with her this year!
Finally, I know that you may be excited and a little bit nervous about the new school year…that is completely natural. Here are a few helpful hints to help you ease into your first day: On the night before the first day of school, be sure to get a good night’s rest, come to class prepared (please see our school supply list following this letter), eat a healthy breakfast, pack a healthy snack to enjoy during your morning work time and most importantly, bring your bright smile! And, to welcome everyone back, be sure to attend our Open House on Wednesday, August 27th from 2:30 - 2:45 pm. Be sure to stay around for the AWESOME PTO Ice Cream Social which will take place beginning at 3:00 pm. If you aren’t able to attend either of these events, no worries at all! I look forward to seeing you on our first day of school which is Tuesday, September 2nd. And again, please take note of our 5th grade school supply list, along with our specials schedule and our daily schedule which can all be found on the next page.
That’s it for now. I hope all of you enjoy the rest of your summer with your family and friends. Be sure to take some time to rest, relax and have fun. I am going to do the same, but I am also very psyched for an exciting new school year. See you soon!
Love,
Mrs. Ligos
