Grade 5 English Language Arts & Social Studies
- Created and presented an AMAZING Constitution project - Constitution, the Musical! This was written, directed & performed by our very own students and demonstrated their a) knowledge of the Constitution and b) how the Constitution connects to their lives today. They did an INCREDIBLE job!
- Began reading the powerful novel, City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
- Learned the differences between point of view & perspective and how they influence the way stories are told
- Dissected all kinds of words through word study & word morphology
- Completed our first WordMasters Challenge of the year
- Worked with verbs & helping verbs
- Constructed solid responses to open ended questions using the I.R.A.C.E.S. formula
- Introduced our new unit of study, Westward Expansion

Grade 4 English Language Arts & Social Studies
- Demonstrated our amazing growth as we constructed solid responses to open ended questions using Readworks passages, both fiction & nonfiction
- Wrote powerfully persuasive opinion essays on The Best Field Trip Destination in New Jersey is...
- Dissected all kinds of words through word study & word morphology
- Identified what makes a sentence a sentence
- Completed a mini unit of study on mythology
- Identified the elements of mythology
- Summarized the story, Odysseus and the Bag of Winds
- Introduced our new unit of study on the Lenni Lenape Native Americans
