Mr. Brandstetter
Bridgewater-Raritan H.S. - 2021-22
(1) Important Rules
- Don’t be late to class – please be in your seat when the bell rings.
- No electronic devices. Cell phones are NOT to be used in class without permission or unless the lesson for the day requires it. The use of inappropriate use electronic devices during class will result in an administrative referral.
- Respect your peers, your teachers and yourself
(2) Class Procedure:
- Class often begins with a warm-up activity or problem(s). You should be ready to begin the warm-up when the bell rings.
- Homework assignments are worth 3 points each. Once you have completed the homework assignment in its entirety, please post on the assignment page to receive all 3 points.
- Most often we will review homework after going over the warm-up, then proceed with the new lesson.
(3) Necessary Materials:
All students are required to have a notebook, a calculator (can also be provided in class or downloaded to phone) and a pencil. It is preferred that work not be submitted in pen.
(4) Assessment Scale – In this class your marking period grade will be comprised of the following portions:
Tests – 40-50 pts. each
Quizzes – 25 – 40 pts each
Notebook Quizzes, Class work and Warm-ups– 5-10 pts each
Homework – 3 pts each
You will have access to all your grades through Power School.
(5) Quizzes – Quizzes will vary in point value based on their length and difficulty.
(6) Homework – Each homework assignment is worth 3 points. Points will be rewarded as follows:
3 points – Homework complete and effort is satisfactory. (NOTE: you must show your work and try every problem to receive full credit… DO NOT just write down answers.
2 points – Homework at least half complete
1 point – Homework less than half complete
0 points – Homework not attempted OR only answers are shown.
(7) Class Absences. You are responsible for any work you miss if you are absent from class. All assignments are posted in our Google Classroom page. Upon returning to class you should speak to me immediately upon entering the room. This should be done prior to the start of class. I will have any worksheet/notes/assignments that you missed in class (unless you were able to print out at home), but it is your responsibility to ask for them. If you have a homework assignment completed from the day prior, let me know so you can receive your 3 points. If you miss a test or quiz, you must schedule a time to make this up after school or during a free period within a week of the absence. If you are absent on the day of the test/quiz only, you should be prepared to take the test or quiz on the day you return (either during your lunch or after school). If you were absent prior to the test or quiz you have one week to make it up. I prefer sooner than later, and so should you. Again, it is your responsibility to schedule the make up immediately upon your return to the class.
(8) Excused Absences due to School Activities (field trips, athletic events, meetings/assemblies, etc.
If you know you are going to be absent from class prior to the absence, it is your responsibility to notify us of your absence. It is extremely important that you let us know so that we can give you any work you need to complete/make-up and/or schedule a time for you to receive instruction.
(9) Extra Time.
If a student does not come during the agreed upon time (unless circumstances did not allow), the quiz or test will be graded as is.
I am here to help you in any way I can, in and out of the classroom. I will try to move at a pace which is comfortable for all of us, but if ever you need or would like to spend more time on any particular area all you have to do is ask. Let me know and I will get you the help you need.
