Intervention is a process that incorporates assessments, teaching strategies, and resources to help students learn. Through a variety of assessment techniques, teachers determine student abilities and their needs. Then Intervention Specialists design and deliver instruction to meet the individual needs of students. Progress is continually monitored, charted, and adjusted as necessary.
Intervention can occur in the classroom through the "push in" process or students may be pulled out to a separate location. Instruction may be small group or individual, depending on the students' needs. Intervention specialists collaborate with each child's classroom teacher to develop the best program.
