Student Expectations
Homework/Classwork:
Students are responsible for Morning Work, classwork, Weekly Writing, and homework.
Homework is will be assigned and placed in their green agenda folder. All assignments sent home have been reviewed by me with the students. Typically, directions are read, hints are given, and examples have been done before it comes home. Homework is geared to practice skills and concepts taught in school.
All assignments, both classwork and homework, have expected due dates.
All assignments are scored and recorded.
Late/Missing Work:
Late assignments are subject to loss of points depending on the requirements. Late assignments will have the word "late" written on them.
Missing work will be taken until the following Monday. If missing work is turned in, the late assignment policy if followed. If missing work is not received by that following Monday, the student will recieve a "0" for that assignment. That zero will not change. Parents should check agenda every Friday to check if their child has missing assignments.
Please check the agendas daily for assignments. Also, check the grade portal for updates on missing assignments and grades.
Agenda:
Your child is responsible for having their agenda in school every day. On Mondays, we will set up the agenda with all assessments, special events, and weekly schedules. All assignments will be written daily. Parents are expected to check both the agenda and homework nightly to ensure completeness and accuracy. You may also use the agenda to communicate with me. This year the agenda is a green folder marked Agenda.
Behavior:
The entire behavior policy of Silver Run can be found in the front of your child’s agenda for your convenience. In the fifth grade, I have high expectations for your child’s behavior. I expect your child to be respectful, responsible, prepared, cooperative, and hard-working. Students will receive "tickets" as they are "Caught Doing Good" throughout the day. The tokens translate to points, collected every day, and rewards are given based on their point level. Shark Cards are given by all staff members which can be used at the school store weekly and they can also be saved and used for the monthly celebrations.
School Supplies:
All students should have their binder, agenda, homework, pencils, and choice-read book every day.
