    • Description:
    •  He was born Gaius Julius Caesar at a chaotic time in Roman history, when   Rome\'s power was expanding rapidly.
    • Julius Caesar distinguished himself   early in life as a writer, orator, lawyer and politician.
    • As a military  leader, he was responsible for bringing such territories as Gaul and   Britain into the Roman Empire, and his writings offered shrewd   observations of the lands and peoples he traveled through.
    • His power and  influence grew until he became the first supreme ruler of the Roman   Empire - Dictator for Life.
    • But others resented his absolute power and   conspired to assassinate him, which they did on the Ides of March (March -15), 44 B.C.E.
