ACES stands for "Adverse Childhood Experiences". Studies have shown that adverse childhood experiences adversely affect a child's health either immediately or in the future. This can manifest in mental AND physical health. Please view the following video and article. Dr. Nadine Burke Harris is a pioneer in this field. She has been working hard since 2007 to spread this knowledge in hopes to raise awareness and to have more regular screenings and treatments conducted.
