Reading
Read 20 minutes a day. Keep track of books read on a Log page in your Reading Response Journal. Read on KIDSA-Z.com at least two times per week.

Grammar
Look forward to our Friday letters every other weekend for details about your son or daughter's busy week at school. Please try to write back -- everyone loves a handwritten letter. Students who do not recieve a letter back are very disappointed when they see their classmates reading letters from their families. The Friday letter journal is due back each Monday.
Spelling
Our word study occurs each Tuesday and Thursday. Words will come home every two weeks for the first 2 marking periods and weekly in the third marking period. Students will be given a spelling menu to help them with their word study. They must complete four things on the menu. Parents must initial the four boxes completed. The spelling menu, completed activites, and word sort completed in school are to be all paperclipped together. This is due back in school on the day of the quiz. Students who complete their word study by working on the four activities over the course of two weeks perform well on spelling quizzes and retain new words studied.
