Reading Curriculum

•Our Reading resources ar Pearson Reading Streets and Wilson Fundations.

•Sight Words: Every other Monday your child will bring home 2-3 New Sight Words.  Please be sure to practice the words every day even for just 2-3 minutes.  How to practice: in the car, at the dinner table, put the words on a door and have your child read them before entering the room.

•Mondays: Your child will bring home a new story each week. Our stories include our sight words for that week.  Please set aside time that evening for your child to read his/her new story to you.

•Letters/Sounds: Please practice letters and sounds each night to help your feel confident in reading new words.  Please feel free to print out our Fundations letter cards to help with practicing the sounds at home:

Find Time to Read

•Please read to your child as often as your schedule permits. Before bed, while settling down, is a perfect time.  Not only does this provide you with some quality time together, it also helps your child tremendously in becoming a successful student…now, and in the years to come.  Read the stories that come home on Mondays and books from the Library.
