Welcome Back Parents and Students!

Please take a moment to review this letter from the Health Office. Here you will find important information regarding your child’s health and wellness, which will also be reviewed monthly in the Health Office Newsletter.

  • If your child is to be absent, please notify the School Nurse at 609-884-8485 ext.227. If you reach the voicemail, please state your name, your child’s name, the date and time, and the reason for the absence. Please review the handbook for the attendance policy.

  • If you have not already done so, please report to the School Nurse immediately if your child has any health condition, particularly those requiring medication of any kind (ex. an Epi-Pen or inhaler).

  • If your child has Asthma or an allergy requiring emergency medication, an Asthma Action Plan or Allergy Action Plan is REQUIRED. Please also send in emergency medication immediately if you have not done so. This includes inhalers for students with asthma.

  • Immunizations must be up to date. Students entering Kindergarten and 6th grade are usually due for updated immunizations. You will be contacted by phone or letter if your student is not up to date.

  • COVID-19 information: If a student has tested positive, they must stay home for 5 days, followed by 5 days of wearing a mask indoors. Siblings no longer have to stay home, as long as they are symptom free. Close contacts, vaccinated or unvaccinated, no longer have to quarantine (provided they are not experiencing symptoms). Testing for COVID-19 will be requested by the School Nurse on a case by case basis. Masking remains optional, unless the student has tested positive within a 10 day timeframe.

  • If your child is new to our school, a physical that has been completed within the last 365 days is required to be submitted 30 days from enrollment. If the physical is not submitted by that date, your child will be excluded from school. *No exceptions*

  • It is a NJ State mandate that every PreK student receive a FLU SHOT by December 31, 2022. If your PreK student does not receive a flu shot by that date, your child will be excluded from school until it is completed. This serves as a first notification of this state mandate. I will send reminders. *Please do not wait until the last minute! There are no exceptions to this mandate.*

  • Lice L It happens. Our cases have been nearly non-existent since distancing has been maintained, however we must still be vigilant in identifying and treating cases should they arise. It is the PARENT’S responsibility to examine your child’s hair and scalp regularly for lice. Group lice checks are no longer a common practice in schools. Lice will be handled on a case-by-case basis, maintaining privacy. DO NOT send your child to school if you find lice. They must be treated for the lice before returning to school. You will have to ensure all eggs are removed to prevent reinfection. It can be a frustrating process, but be patient and vigilant.

  • Screenings for height, weight, blood pressure, vision, and hearing are conducted every school year for each student PreK-3. Beyond grade 3, vision is assessed in 4th and 6th grades only. Hearing is not assessed beyond 3rd grade, unless referred by a staff member or parent.
