Welcome to the home of LSVI's music department.  Here you can find information about the program as well as outside links that pertain to contributions of blind individuals to the world of music and reference materials for Braille Music Notation.

LSVI offers the most opportunity in the state for visually impaired students to participate in meaningful musical performances and learning, using large print and Braille Music, and ear training with music theory.  We offer general music, marching band, drumline, choir, orchestra, piano, guitar, recording, DJ/electronic music technology, and piano technician instruction to our students.

LSVI hosts the Statewide VI Talent Show on campus in conjunction with the spring festival each year.  All VI students in the state of Louisiana are welcome to sign up to compete, simply send an email to Mr. Mike (see link below to our contact page) for more information.  Music activities are also available to our summer campers and summer school students in the afternoon.

Since we strive to be the flagship school for blind and visually impaired music in Louisiana, the LSVI music department is happy to answer any questions that you as an individual, TVI, or local music teacher might have about using Braille Music or any other areas specific to music accessibility for the visually impaired in your own studies.  Please contact Michael Durham ("Mr. Mike") by visiting the LSVI faculty contact page
