I am so excited to be working with your scholar this year. We will be discussing responsibility, how we learn, and prioritizing our work. Students will be learning if they are hands-on learners, listening learners, learners by looking, or learners by doing. I feel as though once students know how they learn they can use this knowledge in every subject in school and in life.
The purpose of this course is to provide students with opportunities to develop and reinforce skills in the area of Reading, Writing, Self-Advocacy, Social Skills, and effective Study habits.This course will also implement AVID strategies that will aid students in their courses as well as their post-secondary endeavors.

Students are expected to:
Have and maintain their AVID binder and Agenda.
Be prepared for class and participate daily.
Complete all assigned work.
Attend school regularly and be on time to class.
Show respect to everyone in the classroom.
Have a positive attitude and ability to collaborate with others.

There is no required text book for this course. Materials given during class are required to be kept in your binder.
This is my 3rd year here at LAMS. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Special Education and Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I grew up just a short ways away in Fort Myers, Florida. I hope to encourage your students that they are capable of doing whatever they put their mind to.
