¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!

Welcome to Spanish class!

Purpose:

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the target language, its culture and to develop communications skills and cross cultural understanding.

 

Description

 

This quarter you will improve your level of Spanish, no matter what level are you on; from heritage speakers to beginners, I will make sure I address your specific needs.

The class will focus on learning Spanish culture and traditions as this is the essential part of learning a language (you cannot learn a language without falling in love with the culture!!). Along with the culture you will be introduced to new vocabulary and essential grammatical tools to allow you to make coherent sentences. And last but not least you will be practicing your writing and your pronunciation skills.

This class is designed to give you an introduction to Spanish and a preview of what you will expand during your high school Spanish years.

 

 Concepts/Content:

The content includes, but is not limited to, beginning skills in listening and speaking with special attention to pronunciation.  An introduction to reading and writing is also included, as well as the fundamentals of grammar and culture.

  1. Avancemos  textbook
  2. Cuaderno de actividades: workbook
  3. Videos: geography, vocabulary, grammar and culture
  4. Selected articles from various sources

Required Supplies:

  1. Notebook (Content in this class is cumulative. You must retain all your notes throughout the semester)
  2. Pen, pencils
  3. Colored marking utensils
