IT IS IMPORTANT THAT IF YOUR CHILD HAS FOOD RESTRICTIONS (MILK, NUTS, PEANUT BUTTER, ETC), WE HAVE THAT DOCUMENTED BY THE TIME THEY START. OUR STUDENTS ARE NEVER FORCED TO EAT SOMETHING THEY DON'T WANT, BUT WE DO ENCOURAGE THEM TO "TRY WHAT WE MAKE!" (SOME THINGS WE HAVE MADE IN CLASS IN THE PAST ARE: PANCAKES, SNACK MIXES, APPLESAUCE, MILKSHAKES, ICE CREAM CONES/SUNDAES, COOKIES, PURPLE COW DRINKS (VANILLA ICE CREAM WITH GRAPE JUICE), AND PACKAGED JELLO, AND PUDDING. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH MENUES ARE POSTED ON THE LEE SCHOOLS MAIN WEB SITE. WE DO NOT GIVE OUT MENUS. YOU MUST CHECK ONLINE FOR THAT INFORMATION. IF ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT THE TEACHER/SLP: VICKIE CAMPBELL.
NEW OFF THE PRESS: START DATE/END DATE: AUG. 17, 2016 TO MAY 23, 2017.

APRIL AND MAY. NEWS FOR YOU TO BE IN THE KNOW!
We are FINISHING UP OUR COMMUNITY HELPERS UNIT.
HOME: ENCOURAGE FAMILY CONVERSATION AT MEAL TIME. ABOUT WHERE YOUR FOOD COMES FROM. TRY TO GROW SOME SEEDS IN A FOAM CUP AND LET YOUR CHILD BRING IT IN FOR SHOW AND TELL. LET YOUR CHILD HELP PICK OUT SOME FRESH FRUITS AND VEGTABLES AT THE MARKET AND HELP PREPARE THEM AT HOME. TAKE A PICTURE AND SEND IT TO SCHOOL FOR A PRIZE.
IF YOU HAVE A GARDEN AND WANT TO COME IN AND TALK ABOUT, OR SHARE PICTURES, THAT WOULD BE GREAT.
WE WOULD ALSO LOVE PET'S YOU WANT TO BRING IN TO SHOW US...SAFE ONES ONLY!!
BABY DUCKS, CHICKS, KITTENS, PUPPIES, HAMSTERS, TURTLES, ETC.
AT DINNER-EVERYONE TELLS ABOUT ONE THING THEY DID TODAY.
or use converstation cards you can purchase or make your own. Ideas are online.
Pink folders need to come back and forth. Please leave the front/back papers in the folder.
There is a send back and TAKE OUT side. Please empty the take out side weekly. The white paper on the left side is for notes. You can write in the bottom section, and I may write in the top section. It may be something that the child is weak on and could use some help at home as well as at school.
A REMINDER: WE PUT RINGS AND MEAL TICKETS ON ALL BAGS. We need your children to bring their bookbags, they have their meal tickets attached to them and it helps move the line, otherwise, they have to look up the child and it holds up the line and takes away from our limited breakfast and lunch times. Thank you for helping with this!
Parent Pickup: Please TRY to arrive by the session pickup time. Recently we have been waiting on parents past our wait times. This causes us to be late to get other duties accomplished on time! Please call ahead if for some reason you will be late. Thanks to all who have been wonderful following pick up and drop off times! If something does arrise unexpectly, let us know asap and we will keep your child safe until you arrive.
There are so many good programs out there for Pre-K on U-Tube. We use PBS kids and Starfall here at school. Also, check out Miss Tracy's lessons! We put a link on the web page for you. We are using the DVD Leap Frog Letter Factory to work on letter naming and sounds. A copy of the DVD would make a great gift!
**Please keep in mind that playing and making art activities are part of learning for a PK student.
WE HAVE BEEN LEARNING HOW TO PLAY WORD (PICTURE) BINGO! We use chips, and sometimes treats! The children are doing a great job learning how to play! We are working on cards that have a specific category, like clothing, things at the beach, animals, furniture, food items, to expand expressive vocabulary. We have recenlty added letter matching and letter/sound Bingo.
We are working on sound production and language skills in everything we do; all activities!
READING books with your child is one of the best things a parent can do for their child! Keep Reading!!!
IF WE RECENTLY SENT HOME FLYERS FOR BOOK ORDERS and you order, PLEASE MAKE A CHECK OUT TO TROPIC ISLES AND NOT TO SCHOLASTICS.
Riser Meetings and IEP update meetings.
*We will be starting to schedule Riser meetings for all students going to kindergarten the first of the year,or if their IEP expires before, then sooner.
Next Fall Head Start Program
Anyone in the AM program who is interested in Head Start for fall may apply in late January. Please let me know and I will provide a recommendation for you and a ticket to take to Head Start with information on it for you.
MANY OF YOU ASK:
HOW CAN I HELP?” As a suggestion for parents when giving directions or telling them important information. Get your child’s attention first. Try sitting in a chair and pull them close, holding their hands while you face each other. Looking at each other will help them learn how to make speech sounds by providing a model. Use a softer, slower voice. Ask, “Are you ready to listen?” Keep directions age appropriate but try to give directions that have more than one step. Have your child repeat the direction. If your child turns away from you during the direction, stop talking. Don’t let go of their hands. Wait a few seconds for them to realize you stopped talking. If they do not look back at you, then remind them again that you are waiting for them to listen. Let your child know that what you are saying is important and you want to make sure he/she understands you.
I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING FOR EACH AND EVERY CHILD AND HIS/HER FAMILY!
Thank you for visiting our web page!
