Welcome Campers of 2017-2018 School Year

I am so excited to be your First Grade Teacher. We are going to have so much fun this year! The new school year will soon begin and I am very happy that your child will be in my First Grade classroom.  This will be my 6th year teaching and I am very excited! It’s going to be a very busy and rewarding year for your child.   We will make every effort to help him/her feel safe, comfortable, and happy. One of your child’s First Grade goals will be to read and write independently.  We will do this everyday in school and you will be amazed at how quickly your child will catch on.  We will also begin to spell words correctly, understand math concepts, participate in hands-on math and science activities, and work cooperatively with classmates.  We look forward to challenging your child and meeting his/her individual needs.

What should I bring on the first day of school?

Please send in all of your supplies (including backpack) with your child so that we may begin labeling/sorting them. You may label the supplies with your child's name prior to the first day of school. Have student bring in lunch box if eating home packed lunch.

What should I do with the Student Planner?

The planner must be sent to school every day.  I will send home a white class binder on the first day of school. The binder will contain our class's weekly newsletter, our school planner, the reading unit's sight words ( which should be practiced nightly :) ), your child's homework, and it will be used as a main source of communication. Please sign your child's binder EVERY night. Please feel free to write notes to me or let me know any questions or concerns you may have in the binder.
