Now that we have learned how civilizatios began in the Tigris-Euphrates valley. Now we are going to learn how another civilization began around the same time in a different river Valley
In this Unit students will about the ancient Egyptian empire. they will learn about the relationship between the Egyptian civilization and its geographical location. Egyptian civilization was centered along the Nile river and delta, where the river empies out into the sea. Predictable and gentle annual flooding of the Nile provided the "Gift of the Nile": a rich and fertile soil that allowed the Egyptianto have an abundance of crops and helped them to develop an advanced and complex civilization.
As this unit progresses, students
should be able to explain how the geography of Egypt created conditions for a healthy and stable kingdom.
describe features of Egyptian religion (polytheism, belief in afterlife, embalming and mummification) and how these beliefs led to advances in medicine.
Explain the purpose of the Pyramids and describe advances in technology, mathematics, architecture, and engineering that ocurred
Identify key figures of ancient Egypt and describe their achievements( Khufu, Imhotep, Narmer, Ahkenaton, Tutankhamen, RamsesII
Describe the lifestyles of various social groups in ancient Egypt.
Students will be assessed through daily bellwork and exit tickets, vocabulary quizzes
Students have a project that is due at the end of this Unit. They may select their own activity from a list of choices in The Google Classroom.
