ROUND VALLEY SCHOOL
Lessons are offered on the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass.
Lessons are held once a week for 30 minutes. Students are pulled from one of their other Unified Arts classes, by instrument group. The schedule rotates so students don't miss the same class every week. Our large ensembles, 5th grade Band and Orchestra, and 6th grade Band and Orchestra, rehearse once a week, during FLEX time/recess.
Students participating in instrumental music will receive a grade each marking period. Grades are calculated on a weekly basis for each lesson, and based on being prepared for class, evidence of practice and improvement on exercises assigned in the method book, and individual and group performance in the lesson. Students will also help determine a practice grade they feel they have earned from effort put in at home on their instrument, at least once a month. All grades are based on a 10 point system.
