Welcome to English with Ms. Flora.
English is not merely the teaching of reading and writing it is the study of the human condition through words. Words are everywhere around us they are thought, spoken, and written. They are conveyed though every medium of our modern times such as: websites, art, radio, literature, music, movies, blogs, theater and television. Their affect on the conscience of people is every lasting and enduring even long after their origin is forgotten.
Just think of all the times you have quoted a movie or television show. Think of the times when you have commented how great a particular line is in a movie or song . Furthermore, think of the affect it had on you.
Here are a few that have affected me.

"So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view."
-Ghost of Obi Wan, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
"I'm out of it for a little while, and everybody gets delusions of grandeur."
-Han Solo, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

"You've got big dream? You want fame? Well, fame costs.
And right here's where you start paying, in sweat." -Debbie Allen, Fame
" All of my life, I have been searching
For the words to say how I feel
I spend too much time thinking too much
And leave too little to say what I mean
But I've tried to understand the best I can all of my life"
-All of my life by Phil Collins,
"Business! Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business;
charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were all my business.
The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive
ocean of my business!" -Marley's Ghost, A Christmas Carol
" There is perfect harmony
in the riisng and the falling of the sea
And as we sail along
I never fail be astonded by the thing we'll do for promises
and a song."
- All the Fools Sailed Away - Ronnie James Dio
