Jump Rope For Heart a success again!
The Brigantine Elementary School has done an amazing job raising money for the American Heart Association through our annual Jump Rope For Heart Jump-a-thon! Since 1999, when we first started the Jump Rope 4 Heart campaign, we have raised over $52,000 for the American Heart Association! Great job everyone! All money raised goes towards life saving research and education about heart disease and stroke.
New Monthly Motivators!
Students in 3rd and 4th grades have the chance to earn a special monthly motivator charm by running/jogging for a specified time NON-STOP! The charms are different each month.   We start with 5 minutes in Sept. and add 1 minute to the time needed for a charm each month. These monthly motivator charms are in addition to the mile charms students already receive each week for completing 1-2 miles on the track at recess each week! Way to go boys and girls! I'm so proud of you! Keep moving!! :D
Morning gym!
From November-April, students will have the opportunity to come to school early for some fun and fitness to help them start their day off right!
The program is free!  It's 2 days a week from 8:30-9. Students must be dropped off and be in the elementary gym at 8:30 to participate.   Hope to see you there!
Pop singer setting good example
Singer Katelyn Tarver sang to students as a reward for trying to walk 10,000 steps a day and being kind to one another. She spoke to the children about the importance of eating healthy and drinking plenty of water as well as getting a lot of exercise!
She put on a great performance! The event was sponsored by Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NJ.
Each year we add new and exciting components to the G.Y.M. program. Along with a beautiful track outside surrounding a lush soccer field, we recently had three new basketball systems added to our playgrounds, have a spin cycle room with 30 bikes and a Game Room, which had Wii Fits, Wii games (such as Just Dance 2 and Wii Sports), Balance boards, game bikes and Dance Dance Revolution!  Students will all get a chance to spend some time in this room in addition to their regular physical education class!

Stay tuned for more exciting things to come from our G.Y.M. program.....
