ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
Teacher: Mrs. Mary Beth Lancaster
When students whose first language is not English arrive in our schools, they are helped to succeed by a special program known as English as a Second Language, or ESL. The students are tested to determine their level of English proficiency and they are placed in the appropriate class. The students who require ESL services are designated as ELL's (English Language Learners).
In our school, students receive one forty-minute period of instruction by a certified ESL teacher.
