The year is getting underway!  It is so nice getting to know your children.  We have changed things a little this year.  I will be your child's ELA teacher (English Language Arts.)  We will using a Writer's Workshop format to develop your child as a writer.  We will also be using a Leveled Reading format in the classroom.  Each child will be taught skills and apply them through books that are on their reading level.  Book Baggies should be brought home and back to school each day.  A book discussion should follow the reading by using some (1 or 2) of the prompts provided in the folder in the book baggy. Try to use some different prompts for discussion each night. Logs should be filled out each night.  If a book is read a second time, it should be logged again.  Student s might need help at first writing in the log.  No written homework in Reading is usually given.  I welcome your comments and concerns.  Please contact me at    Mrs. Lawn ( is the co-teacher in the homeroom class.  She and I work together to teach the children Reading and Language Arts.  We look forward to working with you this year.
