Welcome Back!
September: We were busy learning our Second Grade Routines and Rules. We reviewed LOTS of First skills. Remember to sign your child's 100 Book Challenge Reading Log each night. We will have fun with school workers, Johnny Appleseed, and migrating animals.
October: We have Fire Prevention Week, Columbus Day, Nocturnal Animals and Halloween to keep us busy this month. We will read many stories. Keep a lookout for ALL the word lists being sent home and review them each night. We are becoming experts when it comes to using our calculators in Math.
November: It is Hispanic Hertiage Month. We will learn about many Spanish speaking traditions and cultures. We will also discuss our wonderful families just in time to enjoy some turkey on Thanksgiving. Please practice and review counting money.
December: Do you feel the chill in the air? We are entering the coldest month of the year. We are keeping warm in Math by working on Word Problems. We are also celebrating the holidays around the world. Please sign up this month to read to the class a special story in the afternoon.
January: Penguins! Penguins! Penguins! We are memorizing and reciting a poem about penguins by Meish Goldish.
