About Mrs. Langdon

My name is Joanne Langdon and I am excited about being your child’s teacher!  I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born in Cranston, RI and lived there until I was married. I have been married to my wonderful husband Ken for 26 years.
We have one terrific son named Anthony that attended Savannah College of Art and Design for 2 years and graduated from the University of Georgia with a major in Entertainment and Media Studies/Journalism.  Anthony was an editor for the UGA Red and Black newspaper and also participated in the Disney College Program Internship. He currently works for Wiley Publishing. Anthon recently moved to Orlando, Florida with his fiancé that works for Disney. They have beautiful baby boy named Nicholas. I am so excited about my new role as "Nonna."

I have lived in Dallas, GA for 19 years. Prior to that, I have lived in Dallas, TX; Smithfield, RI; Westboro, MA; and Norwalk, CT.

Ever since I was a young child, I’ve had a love for children and a passion for teaching.

I began my college career at Rhode Island College with a major in Early Childhood Education.  Unfortunately, as a college freshman, I succumbed to the advice of family members and career counselors who told me that finding a job upon graduation would be difficult.  I followed their advice and pursued a career in Management and Marketing.  I was very successful for many years but not 100% personally satisfied with my career choice.

I stayed at home with my son Anthony for 5 years. While living in Dallas, TX, I began working in the school system as a substitute teacher.  After moving to Georgia, I worked as a Kindegarten paraprofessional and became certified as a special educaiton teacher. Now, I am following my original dream of being a teacher. This is my 16th year teaching Special Education at BHES and I feel truly blessed with the opportunity I have been given.

I love working with children and know that this is what I was meant to do!

I was also named Burnt Hickory Elementary School 2018 Teacher of the Year!

Thank you for sharing your child with me!
