Important Dates in March:

Week of Feb. 27-Mar. 3: Read Across America Week

Friday, Feb. 24, 2017

Dear Parents,

This week, we read a literature book and informational text about staying safe in bad weather.  In math, we are finishing our unit on ways to make numbers in the teens, and next are beginning to work with numbers 20 and beyond.  In science, we have been learning about weather and temperatures.

Next week, we begin our yearly celebration of reading and all things Dr. Seuss, Read Across America Week.  Yesterday, I sent home a schedule of the week’s events and themes.  Monday, students can wear silly or mismatched socks in honor of the book Fox in Socks.  There will be trivia about Dr. Seuss and his books through the week, a coloring contest for the Kindergarteners, and a Read Across America assembly on Friday, where contest winners will be announced, and we will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with cake!  It will be a really fun week.

For kindergarten students, please send in any completed Six Flags Great Adventure reading logs by Tuesday at the latest so I can log your child’s six hours of reading for their Great Adventure ticket.

Have a great weekend!
