AM Tutorial is available every morning.  I recommend zero period tutorial for all students.

 

 

Extra Credit Opportunities:

 

 

There is extra credit available in large and small quantities.  Often times miscellaneous extra credits are suggested during class, so listen up. If you need serious extra credit see the list below or speak with your teacher one on one.

 

There are 3 extra credit opportunities available to any student at anytime! These will count in the summative area of the grade and have a nice impact.  They are listed below. You many choose the one that you like the best. The format for the project is with a poster, a pamphlet, or google slides.

 

 

Extra credit I: Biome pamphlet

 

 Select a Biome that interests you: tropical rain forest, tropical dry forest, tropical savanna, temperate grassland, desert, temperate woodland and shrub land, temperate forest, northwestern coniferous forest, taiga, tundra

 

Create a pamphlet about the biome you've selected. You should include (but not necessarily limited to):

 

  • Ø Abiotic factors like temperature, seasons, precipitation, soils (acidity, nutrients)

 

  • Ø Geographic distribution

 

  • Ø Dominant plant life

 

  • Ø Dominant animal life

 

  • Ø Pictures and key pieces of information discussing all the points listed above

 

  • Ø You will also be graded on how neat and organized the pamphlet is.  It should be colorful and attractive as well as informative.

 

Extra Credit II: Invasive Species Pamphlet

 

Select a species invasive to the United States.  Create a pamphlet on the species you selected. The pamphlet will included:

 

  • Ø Definition of invasive species

 

  • Ø Where your organism came from.

 

  • Ø How it entered the U.S. 

 

  • Ø What species did it displace and/or how did it change the environment it invaded?

 

  • Ø What can be done to control or eliminate the threat?

 

  • Ø Provide photographs of the organism and it's environment.

 

 

Extra Credit III: Endangered species

 

Create a pamphlet on an endangered species. This may be any organism from the animal or plant kingdom.  The pamphlet will include:

 

  • Ø An endangered or threatened species

 

  • Ø Definition the status of the species you've chosen

 

  • Ø The species characteristics, including its habitat, how many offspring, diet and other interesting facts about it.

 

  • Ø How did it become endangered or threatened?

 

  • Ø What can be done to protect it?
