About The Teacher

After graduating from Hyatt High School in Fields, La. in 1985, I earned my
elementary teaching degree from McNeese State University in Lake
Charles,La. My teaching career began at Merryville High School in January
of 1990. In August, 1996, I transferred to East Beauregard Elementary
leaving many dear friends both teachers and students in the town of
Merryville. In addition to first, I have taught second, third, and fifth
grades and elementary special education.

My husband, Robert, passed away September 4, 2013 after a four month battle
with an aggressive form of cancer. He was employeed by the Allen Parish
School Board as an Adaptive Physical Education teacher. He was the softball
coach at Elizabeth High School. He was also certified to coach Special Olympic
children. In addition, he was one of the Drivers' Education instructors for
Allen Parish. He was my best friend and is greatly missed.
I am the mother of two daughters, Taylor and Tori. Taylor began her teaching
career this year at Plainview High School. Her plans are to become a teacher like me
and her dad. Tori will be entering her third year at McNeese this year. She wishes
to become a nurse. I am the grandmother to a sweet little boy
named Asher and beautiful princess named Adalynn. My son in law is Chris Jenkins.
He is emplyeed at the Federal Detention Center and grew up in Pitkin.
They and my girls are my pride and joy!

Mission For The Class
In addition to learning all he/she can to be successful second graders in
the year to come, I want my students to feel as if they are an important
part of my first grade family. I believe that a child needs to feel as if
he/she is important and that his/her contributions to our classroom are
needed in order to achieve all that is possible. There truly is "no place
like first grade"!
