 Our Curriculum

Your child's Pre K classroom is taking part in a very special curriculum, Tools of the Mind.  The curriculum is based on the work of a psychologist named Lev Vygotsky.  The program has three main goals.  The first goal is to develop the intellectual skills that are the foundation for future learning.  Children have to learn to pay attention, remember the things the teacher asks them to remember, and to be self regulated.  The second goal is to develop the literacy skills necessary for reading and writing.  Finally, the program is designed to individualize instruction to each child's needs.  The program focuses on small group instruction where children will be able to have individualized attention.

If at any time you have any questions or need to speak to me, feel free to do so.  You can contact me at smartinez@wnyschools.net or you can leave a message on my voicemail box # 28732  In order to make this a successful year it is important to keep the lines of communication open between parents/teachers.   Mrs. Thaya and I look forward to working with your children this year and teaching them many new things!
