Intervention and Referral Service (I&RS)

The Intervention and Referral Service provides pre-referral consultation that reviews and evaluates specific students who are not demonstrating success in their current general education program.  This lack of success may be due to behavioral, social, health or learning difficulties.

The I&RS team discusses each case, makes recommendations and supervises the implementation of intervention strategies that may assist the student in becoming more successful.  The members of the I&RS include the school principal or designee, classroom teacher and other support staff.   I&RS is a school-based committee designed to provide support and guidance for classroom teachers.
